Should we have a new petition?

Saltaire Trees believes that a petition using the council e-petition system may be a necessary next stage based on public opinion gathered through 370 survey responses.  Here below we have some suggested wording for a petition. Is this what you want to ask for? Do you want to ask for anything else? Or would you prefer no petition?

Here is our suggested wording

We oppose the decision to remove 32 trees and replace up to 8 trees on Victoria Road.

We ask that Bradford Council takes every measure in a transparent, open and candid manner to replace 32 trees.

We ask that a full and thorough review is undertaken of the council’s consultation processes and that measures are put in place to ensure wide engagement with areas in particular of such local, city and international importance.

We ask that future decisions are not rushed through due to financial imperatives, do not class post-it notes and emails as equal to questionnaire responses, do provide options for people to abstain or suggest alternative options in consultation questionnaires, do provide researchers rather than officers to gather opinions, do record attendance at consultation events and do not disregard the views and actions of community groups who regularly engage with village residents.

The council petition system requires 5 days to go live, so we will listen to your comments first and adjust to represent the views shared here, at our events on 14th February and from the  survey results on Sunday.

Thank you for your comments!
